On Monday, Rex Airlines started flights between Sydney and Melbourne, Australia’s busiest air route. The airline previously operated exclusively on regional routes, however, the carrier is now attempting to compete with Qantas and Virgin Australia.
Recently, Rex acquired 6 737-800s, which are all expected to arrive by April 2021. The aircraft all previously operated for Virgin Australia so come fitted out with Virgin’s Business class and Economy seats.
In the future, Rex will add further destinations to its capital city network with Adelaide, the Gold Coast and Brisbane on the airline’s radar.
