Turkish Stars’ NF-5 Crashes During Training Killing Pilot

A Northop NF-5 belonging to the Turkish Air Force’s display team Türk Yıldızları (Turkish Stars) has crashed in Central Turkey during a training mission on April 7.

Sadly, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense confirmed in a Tweet that a pilot lost their life in the incident.

The pilot of our Air Force’s NF-5 aircraft, which was crash-damaged during the training flight in Konya, was martyred. We extend our condolences and patience to our Hero Pilot, God’s mercy, his grieving family, the Turkish Armed Forces and the Great Turkish Nation.

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense also stated that the incident occured at approximately 14.15 local time. Local news agencies reported that the jet crashed in the central district of Karatay in Konya. The cause of the mishap is still unknown and is being investigated.
